Qingdao Port Free Trade Zone: 280 tons of coated steel rolls are dispatched to the Middle East

2025-08-10

Latest company case about Qingdao Port Free Trade Zone: 280 tons of coated steel rolls are dispatched to the Middle East

At 6 o'clock in the morning on July 12th, the dew on the logistics park of Qingdao Port Free Trade Zone had not yet dried, and three red Yifeng container trucks were lined up in the 5th loading area. The forklift driver rubbed his hands and started the equipment - today he was going to load 280 tons of coated steel rolls onto these three vehicles. This batch of goods would be loaded onto ships at Qingdao Port and finally arrive at the industrial zone of Riyadh in Saudi Arabia 24 hours later.

"These are 3004 series aluminum-magnesium-manganese coated steel rolls. The customer specified RAL9006 gray white color, and the coating thickness must reach 25μm." The quality inspector, wearing white gloves, was checking the laser codes on each steel roll. The test report in her hand showed that the salt spray resistance test of this batch of goods reached 1000 hours, meeting the climate requirements of high temperature and high humidity in the Middle East. The coated steel rolls were stacked on wooden pallets, and the exposed metal surface under the blue rainproof cloth reflected the morning light, and the anti-scratch film at the corners still maintained its original integrity upon leaving the factory.

The electronic screen in the loading area showed real-time temperature and humidity: 23℃, 65%. The hoisting supervisor stared at the operation screen and controlled the mechanical arm of the 25-ton crane. "This job has to be stable. The roll diameter is 1.2 meters, the center of gravity is on the upper side, and the lifting angle cannot exceed 45 degrees." He said as he adjusted the lifting equipment and slowly lifted a 4-ton coated steel roll off the ground and moved it to the designated position in the container. Two workers quickly tightened the rubber pads and fixed the steel roll in the groove on the side wall of the container - this could reduce the shaking amplitude by 30%.

At 9:17 a.m., the last coated steel roll was placed. The order checker took out her mobile phone, took a photo of the container's seal number, and immediately uploaded the packing list, commercial invoice and origin certificate on the cross-border logistics APP. "This batch of goods is under the CIF terms. It is expected to arrive at the port in 18 days. The customer has already received the advance notice, and the customs clearance documents have already been sent by email." Her folder also contained an Arabic packing list, which was the version specially checked by a translation company last week.

At 10:00 a.m., the driver of the first truck tore off the seal and "click" closed the container door. The vehicle was attached with a yellow route map, with three red circles marking the three mandatory weighing stations on the way to Qianwan Port. "Yesterday, I just changed the brake pads on the tires. The entire journey is 38 kilometers, and it has to go through the expressway to avoid the 3 p.m. port entry appointment delay." He patted the steering wheel and started the truck when the rearview mirror reflected the red slogan "Made in China, Shared Globally" at the entrance of the logistics park.

As the three trucks drove away one after another, the park's broadcast was reporting the weather forecast: "Today, the north wind is 3 levels, suitable for port operations." The gantry crane far away had already started to rotate, and the journey of the 280 tons of coated steel rolls had just begun.
