Production Process and Characteristics of Aluminum-Magnesium-Manganese Colored Aluminum

I. Production Process

Aluminum-magnesium-manganese colored aluminum is a high-weatherability decorative sheet processed from aluminum-magnesium-manganese alloy sheets through a series of precision procedures. The core production process is as follows:
  1. Base Sheet Preparation

    Select aluminum-magnesium-manganese alloys (common grades such as 3003 and 3004) as raw materials. Produce alloy base sheets with uniform thickness through smelting, continuous casting and rolling, cold rolling or hot rolling processes to ensure the strength and plasticity of the base sheets.
  2. Surface Pretreatment
    • Degreasing: Remove oil stains, dust and other impurities on the surface of the base sheet with alkaline cleaning solution to ensure coating adhesion.
    • Chemical Conversion: Form a dense chemical conversion film on the surface of the base sheet through chromating or chromium-free passivation treatment to improve corrosion resistance and coating bonding strength.
  3. Coating and Curing
    • Primer Coating: Roll-coat special anti-corrosion primer to enhance the bonding force between the base sheet and the topcoat, and further improve anti-corrosion performance.
    • Topcoat Coating: Roll-coat different types of topcoats (such as PVDF fluorocarbon, HDP high-durability polyester) according to requirements, with customizable colors, gloss levels and textures (wood grain, stone grain, etc.).
    • High-temperature Curing: Send the painted sheets into a curing oven and bake at a high temperature of 200-250℃ for curing. This makes the coating closely integrate with the base sheet to form a stable protective and decorative layer.
  4. Post-treatment and Slitting

    After curing, the sheets are cooled and subject to quality inspection (coating thickness, adhesion, weather resistance test). Then, they are slit into sheets or coils according to customer requirements and packaged for delivery.

II. Core Characteristics

  1. Lightweight and High Strength

    The density of aluminum-magnesium-manganese alloy is only about 1/3 that of steel, featuring light weight that can reduce the load of building structures. The magnesium and manganese elements in the alloy improve the strength and deformation resistance of the sheets, which have both rigidity and toughness, and can meet the installation requirements of large-span roofs and walls.
  2. Excellent Corrosion Resistance
    • The base sheet itself has good corrosion resistance. A dense oxide film will form on its surface in humid environments, preventing further corrosion.
    • The anti-corrosion coating on the surface forms a dual protection with the base sheet. Especially the fluorocarbon coating, which is resistant to ultraviolet rays, salt spray, acids and alkalis, can have a service life of more than 25 years in harsh environments such as coastal areas and high-pollution regions.
  3. Attractive Appearance and Easy Maintenance

    It supports customization of a full range of colors such as RAL and Pantone, as well as simulated textures like wood grain and stone grain. No secondary painting is required, and the decorative effect remains bright and durable for a long time. The smooth surface coating is easy to clean; daily maintenance only requires wiping with clean water, reducing later maintenance costs.
  4. Convenient Fabrication and Construction

    Aluminum-magnesium-manganese colored aluminum has good plasticity and can be processed by cutting, bending, roll forming, stamping, etc. It is not easy to crack after forming, and the coating is not prone to peeling off. The sheets can be installed with interlocking systems, featuring high construction efficiency and adaptability to various complex architectural shapes.
